Building stronger communities through focused energy development partnerships

Community Solar InitiativeIn partnership with Northern Illinois Food Bank

Exploring long-term land partnerships across Northern Illinois.

This initiative supports Lakeside Energy’s mission to advance responsible, community-driven distributed solar generation — while directing 100% of project proceeds to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

If you received our mailer, your property may meet the criteria we are currently evaluating.

We invite you to explore whether your land could be a fit.

A Community-Driven Approach

Many solar projects are developed strictly for commercial return.

This initiative was structured differently — to align renewable energy development with local food system support and long-term land stewardship.

  • 100% of project proceeds support the Northern Illinois Food Bank
  • Community-scale development designed to serve local subscribers
  • Predictable lease structure for qualifying landowners
  • Defined project term with end-of-term planning
  • Thoughtful site evaluation and responsible land use

Our goal is to ensure that energy development strengthens the region it serves.

Responsible Land Partnership

Each potential site is evaluated individually, with careful consideration given to:

  • Agricultural compatibility
  • Soil health and long-term land value
  • Drainage, access, and surrounding infrastructure
  • Clear expectations and defined structure

This is intended as a diversification opportunity — not a replacement for long-term stewardship.

What We're Currently Evaluating

Because community-scale solar projects must meet interconnection and site requirements, not every parcel is a fit. We are currently prioritizing properties that include:

  •       Approximately 10–20 contiguous acres (multiple parcels may qualify)
  •       Primarily agricultural zoning
  •       Flat to gently sloped, well-drained land
  •       Proximity to existing utility distribution lines
  •       Road-accessible for construction and maintenance

We are currently focused on properties within:

Boone • DeKalb • Grundy • Kane • Kendall • LaSalle • McHenry • Ogle • Winnebago • Will

If you’re unsure whether your property qualifies, we encourage you to submit your information. Our team will review it carefully.
